The Hyaluronic acid

Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a polysaccharide naturally produced by the human body and present in connective tissue and skin. HA has unique viscoelasticity, hydration, anti-inflammation and other important properties that are beneficial in various clinical applications. 

As a result, it has become a key ingredient in creams and skin care products to help maintain hydrated, smooth, and youthful skin [1].

HA is a humectant with highly anionic properties: it can attract and bind more than a thousand times its weight in water, creating volume and providing structural support [2].

As we age, the amount of hyaluronic acid and collagen in the body decreases, which can lead to drier, wrinkled, and dull skin. Using skin care products containing hyaluronic acid can help combat this loss by hydrating the skin and stimulating the body's natural production of hyaluronic acid. Studies show that dermal application of a serum containing hyaluronic acid can improve skin hydration by 55%, plump skin by 60%, reduce fine lines by 31% and wrinkles by 14% [3].

Hyaluronic acid can also help stimulate the production of collagen, another important component of the skin. Collagen contributes to the structure and firmness of the skin and helps prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles [4].

Tight junctions (JS) are specific epidermal junctions composed mainly of the proteins ZO1 and Occludin. They play a fundamental role in skin hydration and cellular cohesion.

Our hyaluronic acid stimulates the synthesis of TJ proteins to maintain skin hydration and also increases skin firmness by stimulating collagen synthesis.

At Beyond Men's Care we use a low molecular weight hyaluronic acid, which is more easily absorbed by the skin and has a hydrating and plumping effect. It is obtained through a biotechnological process. A 66% decrease in the "dry skin" effect of the skin was observed in in vivo tests and a 21% increase in skin firmness in in vitro tests.
